Did God ever grant what you asked for in prayer?
by JH ini was an active witness, and i didn't feel as if god granted anything i asked for in prayers.
i didn't ask anything out of the ordinary.
since the witnesses say that they are god's followers and that he blesses them, i wonder in what way he blesses individuals when they pray?.

"Reading the Awake is equivalent to a college education did you not know?" No wonder I’m stuck in a dead end job with no prospect of an actual career. I never took full advantage of the education that the WBTS offered me in the form of this, do it your self-college degree at home that we all know as the Awake magazine. Foolish me!

Deny this! Brooklyn! I dare you
by stevenyc ini'm to angry right now to write a complete synopsis on the following article from the watchtower.
it regarding child molestation and repressed memories.
i'll put in one quote, and leave this rest for you to read at your leasure.. ps, probably worth copying this because i would be surprised if they will leave it up much longer!.

I haven’t really spent a lot of time thinking about this issue until recently. Although I have never experienced any form of abuse my best friend revealed to me shortly before moving out of state that he had been sexually abused by a relative (who I think was a JW, however, I’m not positive about that).
I also worked as an office manager of a psychiatric counseling office for about five years. One of the more successful counselors there had a client who was a JW and confessed to her that he had been molesting children for years. I’m not sure of all the details with his case but I do know that he turned himself in to the authorities and is serving prison time as a result.
I guess that I’m just now realizing what a prevalent issue this is with this organization. For me it’s just a re-affirmation of what I already knew that the WBTS is guilty of not only bloodshed but also harboring pedophiles.

by ginger77 inplease, huge warning, if you're an angry ex-jw, save your bs advice, i dont' need to hear you put jw's down just to give advice.. i was raised a jw & am still bitter over injustice growing up at the hands of my elder father, and bitter over the abuse of my ex-husband.. i miss my fam, i miss peace, i miss a sense of belonging.
any advice on how to gain inner peace w/o selling myself out?.

Tall Penguin, I liked the letter and thought it was very well written. I asked if your friends would read it because as we all know that the rank and file is discouraged from reading this type of thing.
Thanks for posting your friends response. It’s always interesting to read how a JW responds to a letter like this.

Well this is just shocking news. I can’t imagine the WBTS telling the rank and file to stay away from the Internet. I wonder why they would do something like this? Hmmmmm….

Will your friends read it, or throw it in the trash?

Jesus taught Love and Kindness
by oldflame inhow did the jw's get this backwards when they claim to have an accurate knowledge of the scriptures, they seem to have by-passed this somehow.
i have never seen such a group or sect or religion that hated people outside of their own realm than i have seen in this religion.
that is not to be taken personal as i know it comes from borg teachings.

JW’s certainly do love and care for all of Jehovah’s creations. That’s why they go from door to door spreading the good news of Jehovah’s kingdom. They want everyone to be able to experience the rich rewards that Jehovah has in store for them on an Earthly paradise.

Society worried about direction of JW youths - posting online
by truthseeker ina recent thread talked about certain elder's views of jw youth posting on myspace.com.
it seems the gb is trying to maintain the "image" of jw youth, as dedicated to full time service, pioneers, ministerial servants, all reaching out for greater "privileges of service.".

In my mind the WBTS’s downfall will be modern technology and the Internet. They can preach to the rank and file to stay away from it all they want but in today’s society it’s nearly impossible to do. You can’t put a computer in front of a teenager and expect them to stay away from topics that are such a big part of their life. You just know they’re going to Google "Jehovah".
